While I agree that the current trend of having a screen in the dashboard is indeed a distraction, voice-enabled technology on the other hand may reduce distractions. I'd certainly prefer to be around drivers asking their cars for spoken directions than drivers trying to read their iPhone's GPS app (one BMW driver nearly took me out after an illegal unsignaled right turn on the way to a wedding last summer - the act of being lost is a cognitive distraction itself). |
