I saw a newspaper puff piece recently for someone called Lady Candida “Shrimpy” Balfour (no, really), who flogs Japanese dumplings out of a 1940s American pickup. She seemed nice enough and some of the proceeds even go to charity, but it still made me snap my chopstick in half. Since when did selling a bit of grub out of a truck need blue-blooded, high-minded mission statements and blogs about “what we’ve learned”? |
