As a book lover with over 4500 books in my library I'm proud to say that I haven't got any Booker winners, nor even any from the long-lists of the entire history of the award. Why not? Because I view the Booker choices as having been made by a group of snobs who think they know what they aught to like. They're said to be "literary" as if some books aren't. It's "the Emperor's new clothes" again. |
