I was made redundant two months ago http://petardas.in.net/ petardas com  I was very lucky as a moderator; both Finaldi and Baan were passionate, talkative people, who given the slightest prod could go on long, discursive, but always fascinating digressions about their field. Finaldi, for instance, told a wonderful story about how, in the Second World War, all the paintings in London's museums were taken out of the city to avoid the bombing – but the immediate outcry led Kenneth Clark to bring back one every day, to keep the public spirits up. This showed, he said, that there was great demand for art even in the direst crisis this country, or the world, has ever faced.
