The odd bang and scrape is good, as it teaches your troopers independence, how to take (calculated) risks and how to keep themselves safe. As a teacher, I never ceased to be amazed by the amount of pupils who had safely walked themselves to school that morning but seemingly lost all road sense when taken out as a group with teachers in charge. They felt they didn’t need to worry about their own safety then - we teachers were taking care of that. I think the same is true with your own troopers: if you take complete responsibility for their safety at all times, you rob them of the ability to look out for themselves. |
