The 1993 Oslo Accords negotiated between Yitzhak Rabin and Yasser Arafat were supposed to provide a template for Israel’s phased withdrawal from Arab territory while laying the foundations for a fledgling Palestinian state. That initiative died in the hail of bullets fired by a Jewish extremist that killed Mr Rabin in 1995. |
